So, a friend of mine recently linked me to a YouTube video showing off four unused tracks lurking within the Lufia 2 prototype. I was wondering... Revenant, I remember them talking about that in #tcrf before I left, but I was never sure of its final status. Has that been leaked? If so, we'd definitely need an SPC rip of those unused songs.

Actually... a little Google searching turned up a post on Jul that gave me both the ROM and a music modifier. The music sounds slightly different to me, so I'll be doing a complete dump of it, ala the CT proto.

I think Shard was planning on dumping (or at least documenting) the different music, but I don't know if he ever started. I can let him know that you plan to do it instead.

I had made a different music modifier (9E9060xx) that worked on the intro instead of the file screen, because I hadn't realized that JLukas (or whoever else) had made one already. Shard mentioned that the two codes yielded different music selections for some reason, but I don't remember if that ended up being an emulator issue or what. He also mentioned that he noticed some differences in the songs that remained in the final, but I don't remember the specifics (I can ask him when I see him on IRC again).

I dumped/timed/tagged the whole soundtrack last night. There are definitely a number of differences, some subtle, some not so, between the proto's music and the final's. I have to admit, it's pretty exciting to be able to poke around in a prototype of one of my favorite SNES RPGs... heh heh.

Site update coming soon.

Wow. I just looked at the TCRF Lufia 2 prototype page... that is just awful. It doesn't get into any real differences, just a few glitches and some hidden activator tiles.

I've been poking around the prototype lately, and found quite a number of differences, both major and minor. And some really weird stuff, too. I'd actually be interested in returning to TCRF and giving it the proper treatment, ala my CT prototype page, but I really don't know how they'd all feel about my return, so, hm.

Speaking of that, incidentally. Seems like the Final Fantasy Wiki discovered my FF6 TCRF page, as a lot of stuff on that wiki seems to have been copied wholesale. Heh.

Well you could always pass on your findings to someone else :P

There have, IIRC, been a lot more things posted in the thread on Jul about it than the article currently contains (I poked the debug mode a bit, and someone else expanded on it some); I think there was also a bunch of stuff posted in the original assemblergames thread that may or may not have made it over to the other thread.
