Hey, guys, how are you? I'm not new here in SNESMusic, but just now I had the excellent idea of register and chat with you, hehe :D
I'm a very, very big fan of SNES musics, and I already have a band that play covers of Video Game Music :D
So, I wanna make a question: why don't I found the SPC from the game "Claymates"? Do you know something about? If you know, let me know too, ok?
So, bye, and sorry for the english (I'm a brazilian guy =) )

Queria aprender a extrair as músicas pra ajudar o site.

Resumindo: você faz o request, ele manda-te o set e tu ajudas a identificar as faixas (dar o título adequado). É o método mais simples. Abraços.

Sorry, I don't speak Portuguese (auto-detected by Google)... but I do know something about Claymates.

Claymates happens to be one of those cases in which although in theory I can make a music modifier, the soundtrack itself cannot be dumped to SPC format. It sends the notes to the SPC700 in real time, making it pretty much impossible to just simply patch up.

Want a music modifier for a particular SNES game? All you need to do is ask via PM (or you can check out the Music Modifiers topic and post there) and I'll be on the job. ^_^

KungFuFurby, it's very nice to meet you, since I knew that you are "the man" behind this marvelous project (obviously not the only one).
So, in fack I didn't understand nothing that you said =) , but resuming, can you extract the music from this game? And other thing, can I help anyway here on this site with something? I will be proud of this =)
Sorry again for my ridiculous english =)

E obrigado pela resposta, hydao!

It seems understandable on my end.

I'm not quite the man that handles the entire site... that role belongs to YK. However, I have been the person that has contributed to over 400 SPC sets.

There are various games (a good majority of them in Japanese) that don't have SPC sets. SNES9X or ZSNES (I prefer SNES9X) will allow you to dump SPCs (with proper timing) of various games. Then, with a SPC player (like SNESAmp, though I use Game Music Box instead since I'm running an iMac G5, which isn't an Intel Mac), you can listen to what you just dumped. I ensure that the music tracks I dump are at the first note, and some games require some really good timing to do just that. A music modifier makes this job much easier, though track identification still has to be done manually (if there's a game you want to go for and you're looking for a music modifier to check to see if the SPC set is complete, or if you want to know how many tracks you might be running into, just ask. I'll make one, or at least try to make one. Some games are quite tricky, and take a bit more investigation.).

The music for Claymates cannot be extracted in SPC format, though I can extract the music in an audio format like MP3. I have an application called Wiretap Pro that I use to extract, then I use Audacity to edit it, then use iTunes to convert 'em over to MP3. I have invented a music modifer to go with this game, but it only works in one location. However, you can listen to the music as long as you want.

Claymates
Map Screen Music Modifier
CCA2F6xx (Note: The US version was used. The address is a direct pointer to somewhere in the ROM.)
If this is not 0B, the music during the opening is muted.
The range is 01-15 (note that this is in hexadecimal, which means 0A-0F are valid musical values). There is no more music after 15.
The original reference is A9 0B 00 22 05 5F CD. That is... load 0B into the accumulator, then jump to sub-routine CD5F05. CD5F05 is what handles the music.

Sorry!!

So, the problem is: I don't know how to use a "music modifier" =/

Can you teach me? I use the SNES9X emulator. Thanks for the patience.

This is from the Mac version... it may be different than your version of SNES9X.

Select "Cheat", then select "Cheat Entry...". Click "New", then double-click "000000", and type in the code. Replace xx with your desired value. If you want to modify it, double-click the value column next to the cheat you created.

And now that I've tested more values... I need to re-think my music modifier... it's not 100% working. There's still some sample pack issues... and that's corrected with this:

Claymates
Sample Pack Modifier
CD5E78A9
CD5E79xx
CD5E7A00
CD5E7C00 (required for sample pack 00)
Sample pack 00 supports tune IDs 12, 14.
Sample pack 01 supports tune IDs 01, 06, 0B-0C, 11, 15.
Sample pack 02 supports tune IDs 02, 07, 0D.
Sample pack 03 supports tune IDs 03, 08, 0E.
Sample pack 04 supports tune IDs 04, 09, 0F.
Sample pack 05 supports tune IDs 05, 0A, 10.
There is no more sample packs past this point.
